It has been said that you cannot experience spring until you first experience winter. I would say that this year in particular has been one of the longest and coldest winters in a very long time. I am certain that many of us are more than ready to soak up these first sunny days of spring and rejoice at the sight of those robins on the lawn.
It has also been said that you cannot experience Easter, Resurrection Sunday, until you first experience Lent. Here at the church we have been on a Lenten journey through the shadowed places within us. We have been taking stock of who we are and facing those things that hinder our relationship with God, ourselves, and those around us. Symbolically we have been extinguishing candles and allowing the smoke from those candles to take with it our doubt, sorrow, helplessness, anger, pride, extravagance and fear. I am certain that many of us are anticipating the return of the light and the joy that comes with the celebration of Easter Sunday morning.
This winter, our church has also been facing many of the challenges of what it means to be a community of faith. We have worked hard together to stabilize our financial situation and now continue to discern how we can be a blessing to the community around us. I am certain that many of us are ready to engage in the worthwhile ministry of this church that is before us.
We are very much alive here at Cosburn and we welcome the renewed life that God brings. We are Easter people, always rising to new life and to new ways of living and being. Your continued support for the church is greatly appreciated.
Please come and enjoy the Easter Services. Many people have given their time and talent to be part of this year’s Easter experience. We are grateful for this and more than ready to rejoice.
